The village

Casa Sofia is located in Cepina, Valdisotto (1141 mt high), a very nice little village about 4 km from Bormio. Cepina is characterized by old and rural areas (Pedemonte, Pozzo, Valcepina) and areas where modern houses are built according to the traditional mountain style and are often made of wood.

In spite of the recent development, the village is still surrounded by green meadows where, in autumn, you can spot cows coming back from the summer pastures and grazing.
Valdisotto is an area rich in history; the church in Cepina is dedicated to Holy Mary and is characterized by frescoes by Pietro Ligari while the and recently restored ossuary built in 18th century is the most well known and loved piece of art.

Valdisotto is also the well-known area where the Levissima mineral water is bottled.
